Here are my 10 favorite costumes and why, starting with No.1 and going down to number ten!
)Stocking (angel ver.): I love this costume so much, and honestly I don't even know why. The wig is a pain in the ass, the top kept pulling funny, and the fake eyelashes and contacts made my eyes water like crazy - but I love it! Stocking is an awesome character and ever since I saw the preview for the series on youtube I fell in love with her. This was the first time I had ever worn contacts for a costume and I was rather squeamish about it because I'm weird about having things around or in my eyes. The corset was an interesting thing to construct as I actually made a proper one this time - unlike my Koyori costume's corset which I just winged. I also had a lot of fun making Honekoneko as I've never made a plushie that doubled as a purse before. I learned a lot about make up application with this costume as well so in the future I hope to continue with doing crazy eye makeup for other characters I plan on cosplaying.
)Kneesocks: This costume was one of the most craziest costumes I have ever made. Originally, I had asked Jia*Jem if she wanted to be my Scanty, but it was so close to the convention that she didn't have time to make it -- but I decided to make Kneesocks anyways. When I had discussed the possibility of doing these costumes with Jia, I had asked about bodypaint or bodysuits for the red skin. Her idea was that bodysuits would be best and I agreed, so that is why I opted for the bodysuit instead of painting my whole body -- plus I didn't want to get in trouble for possibly getting red bodypaint all over hotel furniture! I actually had bought a bodysuit at first instead of making one, but the red was too orange and when it came in the mail there was a huge burn mark, so I decided to use it for a pattern to make my own bodysuit. I also did the craziest makeup I have ever done for this costume, and I LOVE it!
)AnnaPuma: This was the first cosplay ever that I was asked to make so I could cosplay with another person. I was so happy with Jia*Jem had asked me to cosplay with her and collaborate on making new costumes for an upcoming convention. I have always admired her work and craftsmanship and it was such a privilege to work with her, and I had made a new friend! She was in charge of armor and accessories while I was in charge of wigs and bodysuits. I feel like such a bad-ass wearing this costume!
)I-no: I cosplayed her because I had tons of this red vinyl fabric just laying around and I was thinking of characters I like that I could finally use the fabric for. I challenged myself a lot with this costume as a lot of the costume design is so unique that you can't find any commercial patterns that resemble it to alter, so I drafted all the patterns for her myself. I also sculpted all of the buckles on the dress, the loop for her choker, and the buckle on the hat. It was a bit frustrating on figuring out how things would work because so much of her artwork was inconsistent, so I just mixed a lot of elements from each reference picture I could find.
